| 内容記述 | Lexicology, or thee study of vocabulary, used to be an unproductive field in applied linguistics. In recent years, however, this lexical field is receiving more attention by researchers. After the expansion of the communicative approach on mid-1970s, vocabulary is now regarded as one of the crucial factors in developing students’ communicative competence. Consequently, a theoretical background to vocabulary learning is required to be established, while researchers are trying to construct such a theory. The aim of this paper is twofold: (1) to make a general survey of the literature on vocabulary research; and (2), based on the theoretical findings in (1), to develop several teaching materials in the vocabulary of action verbs for beginner-level English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. | |||||
