| 内容記述 | The preventation of dust explosion is one of the important problem in coal industry and dust concentration is the main cause of the explosion. We have studied on-site measurement of coal dustfloationg in closed containers by \beta\-ray transmission method. A \beta\-ray source, St-90/Y-90, 100\mu\Ci, with Kb collimator and GM counter were arranged as shown in Fig. 3(a). The transmission rate of \beta\-ray was counted by rate-meter with 3 sec. time constant. The results are as follows. 1) The relationships between concentration of coal dust and \beta\-ray transmission rate was given by eq. (4). This equation is, qualitatively and quantitatively, in good agreement with that expected when aggregated mass of coal powder are transmitted by narrow \beta\-beam. 2) the error in measurement of dust concentration wan given by eq. (5) and (6). 3) The measurement accuracy of coal dust concentration in this arrangement was about 0.4 kg/m\^3^. The followings are speculated based on the above results. For the measurement of dust concentration around discharge electrodes in Hartmann explosion tester shown in Fig. 1(a), it will be important to use four \beta\-ray tracks arranged as shows in Fig. 1(b). For the purpose of gaining accuracy, it will be highly desirable to set collimator at the side of GM counter, not at the side of radiation source, as shown in Fig. 3(b). The expected measurement accuracy of dust concentration is shown in Table 2. | |||||
