| 内容記述 | In our previous papers we have reported that high temperature bearing steel (AISI M50) has better high temperature rolling contact fatigue life than high carbon-chromium steel (SUJ 2) used in conventional ball bearing. However the behaviors of high temperature rolling contact fatigue life tests in carburized steel and carbonitrided steel used in roller bearings have never been investigated. Usually the carburized steel is thought to be superior to the high carbon-chromium steel in room temperature rolling contact fatigue life. Accordingly, in this report the room and high temperature rolling contact fatigue life of the carburized steel and carbonitrided steel were evaluated in comparison with those of M50 and SUJ2. The Weibull distribution of the high temperature (150\C\) fatigue lives was presented approximately linear in the carburized steel and carbonitrided steel, while the complex Weibull distribution was obtained at same temperature for the fatigue lives in both M50 and SUJ-2. The mean time to failure of the carburized steel was the almost same that of M50 in the high temperature life test. Accordingly we can say that the carburized steel has better fatigue behavior mostly due to the larger compressive stress at its surface. The under-surface structure and the flacking of the above steels were investigated by using optical and scanning electron microscopes. It was found that the small white carbides which appeared firstly in the neighborhood of the maximum Hertz’s shear stress field, gathered together and grew like rolling plate toward the surface. | |||||
